The Rum Diary is a 2011 American comedy-drama film written and directed by Bruce Robinson, based on the novel of the same name by Hunter S. Thompson. It revolves around Paul Kemp, an alcoholic journalist, who begins working for a newspaper in Puerto Rico. He is drawn to the charms of Chenault, the fiancee of a businessman who wants Kemp's assistance.
